Cuba's Oscar hopes relaxation on Padron pic

The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industry has selected helmer Ian Padron's feature debut "Habanastation" since it's language Oscar hopeful. An honours committee composed of helmers Manuel Perez, Fernando Perez and film editor Manuel Iglesias selected the buddy movie about two boys from contrasting social skills. Pic won the very best-of-the-fest award at documaker Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival this season. The deadline for nations to transmit in Oscar distribution is Monday.
